Metro Stars Black wins 30 games for the second consecutive year! This season they played in Nike exposure events around the country including Boo Williams (Virginia), End of the Trail (Oregon), and the Summer Showcase (Chicago). Our Black team has established itself over several seasons as one of the top teams in the upper mid-west by being competitive on a national stage and playing in front of hundreds of college coaches.
Metro Stars White wins 29 games and places sixth at the MN AAU state tournament. Also included is a 2nd place finish at the Midwest Elite Exposure Showcase (Menomonie, WI), a top-8 finish at the Miss Basketball Dakota Showcase (Sioux Falls, SD) and competitive exposure events such as the Nike Summer Showcase and the Meltdown (Bloomington, MN). Named most dangerous "second team in the program" by Girls Basketball Recruit.
Metro Stars 15U took the month of July by storm! After losing their first game at the Nike End of the Trail, they won four games in a row to take the consolation championship. They followed that up by going 5-0 and winning their 32 team bracket at the Nike Summer Showcase. To top off the summer they won their bracket at the Meltdown event at the end of July. Playing your best basketball on a national stage in the month of July is what it is all about and the Metro Stars 15U team did just that!
Metro Stars 14U had a very strong season placing 2nd in the MN AAU state tournament while fielding a very young team. They followed this up by a very aggressive summer schedule with exposure events that included the Nike Summer Showcase and the Nike River City Classic held in Memphis, TN. Look for big things from this group in the coming years.
Metro Stars 12U and 13U are the introductory level to the Metro Stars program. Both teams were very competitive this year and got a taste of what AAU basketball is all about. We look for both teams to be improved in 2009 as the tradition of Metro Stars basketball is passed on to them!
The Minnesota Metro Stars Basketball Club has been in existence since 1997 and in that time our teams have won numerous AAU State Championships from the 12U-19U age levels as well as Nike and Adidas exposure event tournament titles. We have sent teams at all age levels to AAU National Tournaments around the country where we have had teams finish as one of the 16 best teams in the country four separate times!
At the conclusion of the 2007 AAU season the Girls Basketball Recruit named the Minnesota Metro Stars AAU program of the year and also honored Brian Frye as AAU coach of the year.
